About Isabella Collazos

Greetings, I’m Isabella and
I’m so glad you stopped by!

I was born in Colombia and when I was 16 years old in 2017, I moved to Canada. It was a big change, but it turned out to be the beginning of a whole new chapter. Colombia gave me my love of color, music, and warmth, and I bring all three into everything I do.

Finding My Place in Montreal

I finished high school at Paul-Gérin-Lajoie d’Outremont, a French-language school in Montreal. Learning in French while picking up English gave me a third language to go with my Spanish. Today I switch between all three without thinking twice.
I graduated in 2021, ready to see what
the world had to offer.

Learning From the Real World

For the next four years, I worked in customer service in all kinds of places, from theatres to insurance companies. I was a night supervisor, a claims representative, and a help desk representative. Those jobs taught me how to listen, solve problems fast, and stay calm under pressure. I use those skills in every design project today.

The Tattoo Shop that Changed Everything

In 2023, I worked in a tattoo shop in Mont-Royal. Being surrounded by sketches, custom designs, and talented artists taught me so much about crafting, drawing, and visual storytelling. That’s when I realized art wasn’t just a hobby for me. It could be my future.

Beyond Work

Outside of work, you’ll find me in museums, behind a camera, or lost in a playlist. Creativity has always been part of who I am.

What I’m Doing Now

Currently, I study Graphic and Web Design at John Abbott College in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. After several years in the corporate world, I decided to go back to school in 2025. Since then, I have worked toward turning my love of creativity into a career. The program lasts three years, and I’m now in my second year.

Why I Chose this Path

Art, design, photography, and creativity have always attracted me. This program brings all of these passions together. Also, every class shows me something new about how ideas become visuals.

What I’m Learning this Semester

This semester, I’m working on five exciting subjects. First, in Advanced Imaging, I take my photography further. I study light, composition, and editing. Next, in Branding, I build complete visual identities that tell a brand’s story. Then, in Logo and Pictogram, I design simple symbols that communicate clearly at any size. In Web Publishing, I bring my designs to life on screen, because layout and code work together. Finally,
in Book Design, I use typography and layout to shape how readers experience a story.

Where I Want to Specialize

Although I enjoy every class, three areas excite me the most. I want to focus on digital imaging, logos and pictograms, and branding. For example, I love sketching a rough idea and then refining it until it feels right.

Every project challenges me, so I keep growing as a designer. Also, no two projects feel the same, which keeps me curious. Moreover, I learn from my classmates and teachers every week. As a result, my skills get stronger with every assignment. I still have a lot to learn. However, I feel more confident each week. Because I enjoy the process, even long nights and tight deadlines feel worth it. Soon, I will share more of my work on this website. Meanwhile, I keep practicing every day.

How I Work

Good design starts with listening. Before I open any software, I try to understand the story, the audience, and the goal of a project. My years in customer service taught me to ask the right questions. Because of that,
I truly hear what people need.

Next, I sketch, experiment, and refine. Then I test my ideas until they feel clear and true to the brand.
My time in a tattoo shop also taught me to care about every detail. After all, a good design has to look great
and mean something.

Also, I enjoy teamwork and I welcome feedback. When someone shares an idea, I listen carefully.
Then I add my own creativity to it.

My Availability

I’m available for an internship from the last week of April 2028 until mid-May 2028. If you’re a studio, agency, or business in Montreal, I would love to hear from you. I bring motivation and curiosity, so I will give your team my full energy.
Please reach out, and let’s create something great together. Also, you may find on this page my web and print portfolio if you would like to know more.

What Comes Next

After I graduate, I plan to look for a job right away. Instead of going to university, I want to start my career as soon as possible. My goal is to become a Montreal graphic designer. In this role, I want to use my skills in digital imaging, logos and pictograms, and branding. Montreal is my home, so I would love to join its creative community. Meanwhile, I will keep learning and building my portfolio. If you’re hiring, let’s talk! Thank you for reading my story.
